Petkim will produce 'Engineering Plastics' in the new company

Petkim who produces petrochemical raw materials close to 60%, has established a new company for high-tech engineering plastics and chemicals.

 

Sadettin Korkut the General Manager of Petkim said that the Petkim Specialities in Turkey with a capacity of 24 tons/year will mainly met by imports and appeals to sectors like packaging, plastics, automotive, defence, medical, such as information technology and specializes in high quality products.

 

Petkim Petrochemical Holding Inc., the petrochemical raw materials manufacturer in Turkey has established Petkim Specialities which will produce advanced engineering plastics and high-tech chemicals.

 

Petkim with 100% participation of Petkim Specialities in Turkey with a capacity of 24 tons/year will mainly met by imports and appeal to sectors like packaging, plastics, automotive, defence, medical, such as information technology and specialize in high quality products (masterbatch, compound).

 

Sadettin Korkut the General Manager of Petkim said that it will be made an investigation of additional 5 million dollars to the present investigation to the new company.

 

The property of the Plastic Process Plant located in Petkim with a capacity of 14 thousand tons/year production will be used for Petkim Specialities, additional to this capacity, a new machine equipment with 10 thousand tons/year capacity will be provided. The capacity of Petkim Specialities will reach to 24 thousand tons/year.

 

Sadettin Korkut indicates that Petkim, with 50 years of knowledge and experienced human resources had a capacity increase in the last period and focused to value-added products; he said that they have brought them together in different areas with a growth strategy.

Korkut reminded to Petlim (Petkim Container port), which has been delivered to operators at the beginning of 2016 and will begin to serve and reached to an investigation of 400 million dollars. Petlim is a business which has added a value. He said that ‘Petkim Specialities’ will also be an independent structure.

The provided value will diversify the total incoming and increase of Petkim and EBITDA.

Our goal is the formation of a structure that can produce solutions which can respond quickly to demands from the customers.

The company will use our own products as raw material and will convert them to higher special items. He said that products will come up which need research and development and high-tech.

 

Korkut stated that specific products come to the fore from traditional ones in the Petrochemical Industry; they will be used in sectors like packaging, plastics, automotive, defence, medical, and information technology.

Korkut explained that the plastic sector reached to 17 billion dollars in Turkey and the engineering plastic have a 4-5 percent share; there are big players in this field in the world.

Imported products take a big part in Turkey's market. It is important, that Petkim which is a strong, domestic manufacturer takes place in this market.
