The installation of the 17 turbines and 51 MW mechanical power WPP project, which was initiated in 2014 to increase Petkim's energy security, reduce the energy costs included in the production costs, and meet some of the electricity needs during production from environmentally friendly renewable energy sources, was completed in 2017. The system was commissioned after 25 MW of electrical power was accepted by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey. In addition, as of 01.01.2018, the 10-year process of benefiting from the Renewable Energy Resources Support Mechanism (YEKDEM) began. With the RES project, Petkim's electricity generation capacity is expected to increase by 22%, and it is also expected to emit 120 thousand tons less CO₂ into the atmosphere.
