A Strategic Step from SOCAR to Shape Petkim's Future

Another significant milestone has been reached within the scope of the Master Plan studies being carried out at Petkim, a group company of SOCAR Türkiye. As part of the project targeting long-term value creation for the petrochemical ecosystem, efforts have been initiated to transition to the FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) phase following the successful completion of the Pre-FEED process.

In this context, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering engineering, technical, and economic analyses related to FEED studies was signed with global engineering firm Technip, with the aim of establishing the technical and commercial foundation for potential investment decisions that will shape Petkim's future transformation.

The FEED process — recognized as one of the most critical engineering phases prior to a final investment decision in large-scale industrial projects — is planned to commence at Petkim, Türkiye's first and only integrated petrochemical producer, in the third quarter of 2026. During this process, technical design, engineering solutions, technology selection, cost estimates, implementation plans, and economic feasibility will be evaluated in detail. The outputs obtained will provide the technical and commercial basis for potential final investment decisions to be considered under the Petkim Master Plan.

Through the Master Plan, the goals are to support the long-term sustainability of Petkim's existing production infrastructure, further strengthen refinery-petrochemical integration, and modernize production technologies. The project also aims to enhance Türkiye's competitive position in the petrochemical sector. The transition to the FEED phase represents not merely the beginning of an engineering design process, but a strategic milestone bridging Petkim's current strengths with its future growth and transformation targets.
